About The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring Consultant Psychiatrist to lead our talented team at Baldock Manor. This role requires a professional, open culture that empowers our clinical staff to provide exceptional, compassionate care. Key Duties and Responsibilities

In collaboration with other clinical colleagues and managers, develop a comprehensive treatment service delivering high-quality responses to those suffering from mental health problems based on quality assured evidence-based practice. Provide advice regarding the psychiatric care of clients within their respective service area, taking overall responsibility for a defined caseload of patients. Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and foster positive working relationships with medical professionals and external stakeholders. Oversee the performance of Consultant Psychiatrists, ensuring systems support appraisal and revalidation, and identify concerns about conduct or performance. Maintain effective leadership, providing clinical supervision and mentorship alongside other Consultant Psychiatrists. Represent the business externally at local, regional, and national levels, raising its profile and establishing relationships with commissioners and key partners. Participate in an out-of-hours rota with other Consultant Psychiatric colleagues and ensure adequate consultant cover across the hospital as required. Contribute to quality enhancement and service evaluation projects and participate in relevant research for short- or long-term service improvement. Lead educational and health promotion activities within the Mental Health Service and liaise regularly with General Practitioners. Foster a culture of learning by leading the CPD programme and providing input on initiatives requiring a medical perspective. Qualifications and Experience

Approved Clinician status. Section 12(2) approval. A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and in good CPD standing. Current registration with GMC. At least five years' experience in an in-patient setting. Experience working in a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. Ability to take independent clinical decisions and demonstrate clinical leadership. Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of evidence-based practice. In-depth knowledge of MHA and MCA. Effective communication skills - verbal and written. Up-to-date knowledge of current practices in in-patient Psychiatry. Able to organise oneself and prioritise clinical need. Evidence of participation in audit. Working Hours and Contract

Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Permanent or fixed-term contract available.
