The Union has a team of staff in offices across the UK who have a wealth of experience and expertise when it comes to advice and representation. They are able to deal with the issues raised by members working in all areas of the industry whether it be a major feature film, a theatre in education show, radio voice overs, a circus act or any other live or recorded work. The Role Equity seeks a proactive Policy Officer to join our policy team. This role will be responsible for managing, supporting and delivering the policy and research work of the union relating to the entertainment industries in which our members work. They will take on industry related issues such as: research into supply chains, tax credit distributions and will seek to increase our leverage in negotiations through better understanding how the industry is funded and capital moves. They will lead on work related to Equity's arts policies such as: Performing Arts for All, the BBC Charter, the review of the Arts Council England and will be a point of contact for some policy-related industry bodies. The postholder will lead in developing the union's knowledge base to advance our industrial agenda. Using their analytical skills, Equity members' insights and experiences, and collaboration with colleagues and external partners, they will produce a programme of union policy, research and analysis that will support industrial colleagues to win for our members, influence political debate and have media impact. Minimum Requirements Successful applicants will have several years' experience in policy or research teams, particularly in the labour movement or creative industries. They will be detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in assessing complex information, excellent analytical skills, project management abilities, and a familiarity with the UK political system. A grounding in economics, quantitative and qualitative research and/or basic accountancy are desirable. To apply, please visit our website via the button below.
