We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a

Governance Officer . This pivotal role plays an integral part in ensuring the smooth operation and effective oversight of the organisation's governance framework. The Governance Officer will be responsible for providing critical support to the administration of board committees, ensuring that these committees function efficiently and in full alignment with the organisation's overarching strategic goals. In this role, you will take on a variety of tasks that are crucial to maintaining the effectiveness of governance processes, including coordinating meetings, preparing documentation, and assisting with the implementation of governance policies. Your contributions will help ensure that the board and its committees are well-organised, compliant with regulatory requirements, and positioned to make informed decisions that drive the organisation forward. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, where your attention to detail and strong organisational skills will play a key role in supporting the long-term success of the organisation. The base for this role is County Hall, Norwich - although we can offer some flexible working, there is an expectation for successful candidates to work from their base for the majority of their working week. Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities: Provide high-level administrative and strategic support to key governance bodies, including the Board of Directors, Board Committees, Council of Governors, Annual General Meeting, Annual Members Meeting, and other governance entities. Ensure the effective operation of board committees, supporting decision-making processes and maintaining alignment with the organisation's goals. Prepare agendas, reports, and documentation, and ensure that all meetings are conducted smoothly and in compliance with regulatory requirements. Support the development and implementation of governance policies and practices to maintain transparency, accountability, and operational excellence. About us

Qualifications

A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Law, Public Policy) or equivalent experience. Minute taking qualification or similar experience Experience

Experience in a governance or corporate management role within a public sector or not-for-profit organisation. Experience in supporting senior management and/or board-level committees. Familiarity with risk management and internal audit processes. Skills

Excellent organisational and project management skills. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Knowledge

Understanding of corporate governance principles and practices. Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements related to governance. Awareness of public sector governance frameworks, including the NHS or similar organisations. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
