What is this role? First for Education are recruiting on behalf of a client school for a Teaching Assistant to work on a 1-1 basis with a child with SEND needs. This child is based in Key Stage 1 and the role could become ongoing to follow this child through their journey at this school.
This is a role where the school are hoping to have someone in place ASAP and they are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is willing to commit to a full-time position.
What is required of you?
You will be supporting in Key Stage 1 classes, so experience of working with children of this age is essential. You will need to have had experience, and be enthusiastic working with, children with SEND/SEMH needs both in the whole class group as well as on a 1-1 basis where needed. You will need to support the class teacher in class. This is a full-time role, Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:45pm.
What you'll need to succeed:
You must have a Level 3 or 2 teaching assistant qualification or equivalent. You must have experience with, and enjoy working with, children with SEND/SEMH needs. You will ideally have at least 6 months experience in a classroom setting, although this is not essential. You must have strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
