Position Function: Under the supervision and guidance of the nursing assistant preceptor, the student is a member of the health care team who assists the professional care givers in providing quality care to patients. II. Job Relationships: Reports to and is supervised by their preceptor, Clinical Instructor, Registered Nurse/Resource Nurse, Coordinator, and/or Nurse Manager. Works collaboratively with the Registered Nurses/Physicians. III. Authority: Under supervision and/or guidance, the student has the authority to carry out patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. IV. A. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Provides superior customer service to internal and external clients, customers, and patients as referenced in the Service Excellence Standards. Functions in the role of Nursing Assistant on the health care team as assigned by the Registered Nurse. Performs work to meet schedules and to facilitate quality team health care to patients. Reports significant observations and patient problems to professional care givers. Maintains confidentiality of patient's records and problems. Provides and maintains a clean, orderly, comfortable and safe patient care area. Performs non-nursing functions which impact and contribute to the quality of patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Terminal cleaning/infection control. B. Responsibilities/Non-Essential Functions: As assigned. V. Reporting Requirements: Preceptor, Registered Nurse, Coordinator, Nurse Manager VI. Accountability: Maintain the confidentiality and security of all Hospital-related, Medical-staff related, and patient-related data and information. Accountable for observing all Policies and Procedures of the unit, Infection Control, and Medical Center. VII. Qualifications: Minimum Education: Enrollment in healthcare-related major. Minimum Experience: None Minimum Skills/Abilities: Ability to read, speak, write and understand the English language. Ability to complete mathematical computations required to perform tasks. Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients.
