Coordinating patient flow throughout the maternity unit supporting staff and area managers. Ensure a helicopter view of the maternity unit is maintained. Redeploy staff throughout the unit when there is a clinical need. Allocate duties to staff in accordance with their individual levels of competence. Deliver excellent standards of clinical practice to all women and support colleagues to deliver the best possible outcomes and experience. Lead the service and ensure all midwives act as women's advocates in promoting and delivering the highest standard of midwifery care, ensuring all fundamentals of care are addressed, and current, relevant policies and procedures are adhered to. Using evidence-based practice, assess women's physical, psychological and spiritual needs, create care plans, implement and evaluate midwifery care involving women and their families, as appropriate. Maximise the use of manpower and resources and promote new ways of working. Work clinically when needed to act as a role model within the team. Person Specification
