Part Time Creche Worker

Pay Scale

£13.00 – £14.50

Days

The creches run term time and are regular days and times. An example of this would be: Every Monday 9am to 12pm.

Job Purpose

We’re looking for Early Years Workers with a genuine interest in childcare and a true passion and love for children to join our fantastic team. The work may involve organising play activities, feeding, changing nappies, talking to parents and communicating with clients. Overall your purpose is to keep the children safe and adhere to Freedom Care’s safeguarding policies and procedures.

Duties

To be punctual and reliable to fulfil your role.

To help set up the creche to specific plans.

To assist the creche leader to agreed routines and work as part of a team.

Familiarise yourself with any special needs of the children you are looking after including food allergies and toileting situations.

To learn about the children’s and families, specific needs and ensure routines are followed, including nappy changing and toileting procedures.

To assist the children with their medical needs as necessary, keeping accurate records as required.

To encourage child-led exciting activities.

To develop successful relationships with the children.

To make sure your T-shirt is clean and ironed, and you wear your ID badge.

To make sure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

To ensure your own personal hygiene is to a high standard.

To understand and follow all safeguarding guidelines, policies and procedures.

To keep up to date with all first aid training and guidelines.

Ensure that you keep yourself up to date with all procedures and policy changes, relevant to your role.

To drive and have access to a vehicle for work purposes if required.

Inform Freedom of any changes to your driving licence.

You have a duty (under Health & Safety Legislation) to take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others. This means having an understanding of hazards in the workplace, complying with safety rules and procedures and ensure that anything you do or don’t do doesn’t put yourself or others at risk.

Undertake any other additional duties as required, which are relevant to the post.

Experience and Qualifications required

Minimum of L2 in Childcare or equivalent experience. Paediatric First Aid is an advantage. Safeguarding L2 (we can provide training). An enhanced DBS will be required.

FGM

Prevent/radicalisation

Safeguarding

Food Hygiene if relevant for your role.

Additional Skills and Knowledge

An understanding of the developmental stages of young children.

A sound knowledge and understanding of working with the EYFS, and how this contributes towards planning activities to extend children’s development.

Awareness of what equal opportunities and discrimination are and how it can be prevented.

Ability to work as directed and complete tasks reliably and to the required standard.

Ability to participate and plan indoor & outdoor activities with the children, in all weathers.

To be able to communicate clearly and easily with children and their family in a variety of ways.

Ability to read and understand written work and to record and feedback relevant information.

Ability to form appropriate relationships with the children, and others involved in their care, whilst maintaining strong professional boundaries.

Experience of working in a team.

Candidate temperament

Physical and Emotional Demands of the role

This can be a demanding role and has the potential to be stressful at times. In order for you to be able to have the emotional resilience required it is important that you are physically and mentally well. Obviously, people’s state of health is paramount; with this in mind regular supervision, communication and support is in place to manage your welfare and ensure you are in a robust state of health in order to perform the role. We also encourage you to reach out for help if you are struggling with any aspect of the role so we can work out how best to help and support you.

An enhanced DBS will be required for this role.
