About the role We are excited to announce an opportunity to join our team at The Cherries in Weymouth, working with a young person who requires dedicated support. This active child loves spending time outdoors, enjoying activities like walking in the stunning Dorset coast and countryside, paddle boarding, and more. After a period at The Cherries, you will transition with him to his forever home in Portland. Your Role as a Youth Practitioner: We are looking for a caring, committed, and positive individual. The role of a Youth Practitioner is incredibly rewarding, as you will support this individual, creating a positive and safe environment where they can grow and develop. Key Responsibilities: Independent skills development: support in developing skills such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care, fostering his independence. Engaging activities: organise and participate in activities, especially active outdoor activities. Supportive environment: Help create a positive and safe environment where the child can grow and develop, making the home feel welcoming and non-clinical for both the child and other employees. Team collaboration: work closely with other team members, families, and external agencies to provide the best care for the child. This includes developing care plans and thinking of creative ways to help him thrive. House management: assist with the day-to-day running of the home, including cooking meals, cleaning, and administering medication. Consistent care: provide consistent care by working long days, ensuring the child has stability and continuous support. This is a full-time role at 37 hours per week. This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed. This post involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults and/or having access to significant information about them. It will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
