Weston Park is a residential and nursing home located on the outskirts of Macclesfield Town situated in a quiet residential area. The home is accessible via a main bus route and easily accessible from the Leek and Congleton roads. Weston Park provides a variety of care for 72 residents over two units. Mulberry unit provides nursing with dementia care and Weaver unit provides general nursing care. In addition, to the existing services we are reopening our 30 bedded service following refurbishment and therefore we require an experienced Chef to join our existing team. CQC rating: *Good Principal Accountabilities To order fresh and frozen foods from nominated suppliers. To prepare lists of goods required from cash and carry. To maintain and monitor stock levels of food stuffs and catering equipment. Preparing menus in agreement with the Head Chef/Home Manager. Preparing nutritional food to a high standard, taking into account any special dietary needs. Requirements Organise and control the workload of the kitchen assistants ensuring that all tasks are performed in the time required and that any task undertaken is done to the required standard. Ensuring that the highest standards of health and hygiene are maintained at all times. To keep abreast of any changes to regulations regarding the preparation of food and the working environment of the kitchen. To liaise with the qualified nursing staff with regards to new patients, special dietary requirements, changes in diet etc. To ensure that adequate staff cover is maintained and where necessary cover such deficiencies until proper staffing can be provided. Knowledge/Experience/Skills Needed Experience in the catering industry. Have attained the 7061/2 qualification or equivalent NVQ. Successful completion of the Food Hygiene Course. Assignment and Planning of Work The Chef allocates the daily tasks to the kitchen assistants in order that they can proceed with preparing the meals. They must ensure that the tasks carried out by the kitchen assistants are done in adequate time in order that everything culminates in the preparation of the meal.
