This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the University of Surrey’s research strategy by communicating the benefits of, and enabling, Open Research practices across the range of disciplines at the University of Surrey. The Open Research Officer will work across the University, and nationally with the UK Reproducibility Network (UKRN; www.ukrn.org), to accelerate the uptake of Open Research practices. The successful candidate will join an existing five-year project supported by a Research England Development Fund award, entitled “Growing and Embedding Open Research in Institutional Practice and Culture.” The initiative aims to enhance research practices across disciplines by promoting open research principles and data stewardship. in the first instance. About you

The ideal candidate is a proactive, enthusiastic individual with a strong background in research, preferably currently enrolled in or recently completed a PhD program in any discipline. You are an excellent communicator, able to engage effectively with researchers at various career stages and from diverse disciplines. With strong interpersonal skills and experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, you are adept at organizing events, managing multiple tasks, and meeting deadlines. You have a keen understanding of data lifecycle management, FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data principles, and are familiar with the legal and ethical considerations of data sharing. Leadership potential and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team are essential, along with a demonstrated initiative to take responsibility for key project tasks. How to apply
