We have a mature hybrid working model here at J&P, with a focus on a healthy work/life balance. Our highly respected Credit Solutions Department is looking for an enthusiastic, resilient and driven individual to join. The team is ranked in the Top Tier of the Legal 500 and deals with a wide range of commercial and consumer debt recovery matters, including complex commercial disputes and insolvency issues. The Claims and Enforcement Team are tasked with seeking the recovery of a broad range of debts for commercial and public sector clients. The team carries out Collections, Pre-Litigation, Litigation and Enforcement activity. In the current climate, it is critical that we engage with Debtors in order to resolve objections for payment and secure recovery of the debt owed as quickly as possible. That engagement may come at any time during our recovery cycle.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for issuing and managing legal proceedings in order to recover debts owed to client companies. You will use your excellent communication skills to engage with customers/debtors via telephone, correspondence and email in order to negotiate settlements and payment arrangements, assess affordability and vulnerabilities. You will also use your strong organisation skills to ensure the timely filing of relevant papers to the court service, instruct and brief Counsel prior to hearings and ensure timely service of judgments on the Defendant(s).

You will ensure enforcement of the judgment, including instruction of and liaison with the High Court Enforcement Officers/County Court Enforcement Officers where applicable. You will also provide Clients with effective advice about the methods of enforcement they should take to maximise recoveries in a cost-effective manner. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

You will have previous experience of using case management systems. You may have previous experience of working in a debt recovery role within Finance, Utilities or Local Authority. You must have an understanding and knowledge of legal and court processes and procedures relating to debt recovery. You may be familiar with Lexcel and Data Protection Act compliance requirements. Qualifications

Educated to GCSE standard grade A-C in Mathematics and English (or equivalent). ILEX Legal Executive Diploma Level 3 or above (desirable). Qualifying Law Degree and Legal Practice Course (desirable). Benefits
