Interim Management Accountant Job for 3 to 6 months in Exeter, Devon

Butler Rose seeks an experienced Management Accountant to join our client on an interim basis whilst they recruit permanently. This role plays a pivotal part in supporting the Director in preparing monthly management accounts, business reports, and maintaining robust financial control procedures for the Strategic Board. The successful candidate will also take direct responsibility for recording and reporting for a portfolio of companies within the Group structure.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio Oversight:

Take direct responsibility for managing and reporting on a portfolio of companies within the Group. Financial Reporting:

Prepare monthly trial balances, profit & loss accounts, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analysis notes. Control Procedures:

Ensure compliance with the Group's financial control procedures, preparing and signing off on reconciliations and control balances. Strategic Support:

Deliver accurate financial data and analysis to support senior management in achieving strategic goals and projects. Budgeting & Forecasting:

Collaborate with business stream managers to meet budgeted targets and assist in preparing rolling re-forecasts. Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure adherence to regulations, including VAT, Corporation Tax, and PAYE requirements. Asset Management:

Maintain fixed asset registers, ensuring accurate monthly depreciation. Process Improvement:

Monitor accounting developments and recommend process changes to enhance compliance and efficiency. Procedure Documentation:

Assist in creating and maintaining a comprehensive procedure manual for the finance function.

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented professional with: Proven experience in financial reporting and management accounting. Strong knowledge of financial control procedures and regulatory compliance. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to deliver actionable insights. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments. Experience managing financial data for multiple entities or companies is an advantage.
