Responsible for the management, delivery, and development of the POCT, SAMBA and Phlebotomy services within Blood Sciences, the post holder will be a state registered BMS with considerable experience who has shown innovation, drive, and leadership in their existing position.
Main duties of the job
To be the scientific and technical lead covering POCT, SAMBA and Phlebotomy Services within Blood Sciences. To manage & have overall responsibility for designated departments. To manage the laboratory teams to ensure high quality routine and specialised services. To be responsible for the efficient and effective running of all sections within the departments. To deputise for the Head of Blood Sciences. To manage the strategic development of the departments through the continual planning and development of staff and equipment. To participate in the education and training of both unqualified and qualified BMS staff in order for them to gain and maintain state registration. To co-ordinate and facilitate Health and Safety in accordance with regulatory bodies, Trust requirements and emergency services and ensure a safe laboratory environment. To ensure systems are in place for regulatory compliance within relevant departments for UKAS & MHRA. To investigate complaints and implement actions/learning from staff or service users.
