Organise and plan the supply of aseptically prepared medicines to patients, wards, theatres and departments served by the Trust and contribute to the development of these services by proposing and implementing service improvements. Liaise with chemotherapy nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure that medicines are prepared in advance of each patient's scheduled treatment, and ensure that treatment which is on hold is not dispensed until confirmation is received that treatment will go ahead. Supervise any non-pharmacy staff who require access to the aseptic units or the associated air handling plants, ensuring that personnel comply with local policies and procedures and any problems are relayed to the Aseptic Unit Manager. Aseptically prepare and dispense cytotoxic chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, parenteral nutrition and other sterile products for inpatients, outpatients and day cases, including clinical trials, according to local SOPs. Assist in organising regular stock checks and take responsibility in investigating and correcting any discrepancies as appropriate, referring to more senior colleagues as necessary.
