Are you a Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social worker? Do you want to work in a team where you can shape someone’s first experience of mental health services, share your opinions, knowledge and expertise and make a difference, use evidence-based interventions and be involved in research, receive training and awareness in interventions we know work with the client group? If this is you then the Northumberland Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Team would like you to join us. The post is a Band 6 Community Practitioner role working across Northumberland, offering interventions to 14 – 65 year olds who are thought to be developing a first episode of psychosis. However, you are likely to be responsible for service users in the North of the County covering from Alnwick to the Borders, although depending on service need may involve other localities in the County. You will work as part of a Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT), be involved in assessing and providing interventions to service users as well as supporting families, whilst also working collaboratively with other professionals. The service is committed to developing the skills of practitioners, so there will be opportunities to develop further clinical skills. You will be involved in care co-ordination, but with a caseload of 15 allowing greater opportunity to offer interventions / treatment. Main duties of the job
In the role as a community practitioner you will: triage referrals and allocate for assessment where appropriate. undertake initial assessment, feedback to MDT. act as point of contact for referrals and calls where they are not able to wait. manage a caseload, complete risk assessment and care planning, liaise with other professionals within and external to the team. provide evidence-based interventions or support plans. Knowledge and Experience
12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need. Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives. Have worked in a community mental health team. Skills and Competencies
Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs. Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills. Demonstrate an understanding of effective & appropriate treatment options including a range of evidence-based clinical approaches as identified in N.I.C.E. Guidance. Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills. Evidence of a high level of professional, organisational and leadership skills (self & others). Qualification in CBT/ family interventions. Qualifications
Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist. Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post. Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post. Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Panel for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults) and Child Protection. Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
