£33,366 - £37,938 per annum for the Public Health Officer role
plus essential car user allowance for both

We require an enthusiastic and highly motivated Environmental Health Officer or Public Health Officer (Food Safety) to join our busy service dealing with food safety and for the EHO post other areas of environmental health work including health and safety, skin piercing, nuisance and animal licensing. You will need a thorough knowledge of food hygiene legislation (and health and safety for the EHO post), be prepared to think on your feet and be up for a challenge. You will be given considerable responsibility and will enjoy a varied and challenging case load with the freedom to lead on various projects.
Qualification requirements
Applicants must hold or be close to attaining at least one of the qualifications listed below.
Environmental Health Officer – at least one of the following:
A Certificate of Registration awarded by the EHRB to practice as an Environmental Health Practitioner
A Diploma in Environmental Health awarded by the EHRB or the REHIS
Degree in Environmental Health
Masters Degree in Environmental Health
Environmental Health Practitioner (Integrated Degree) Apprenticeship
Public Health Officer (Food Safety) – at least one of the following:
Higher Certificate in Food Control awarded by the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or CIEH
Higher Certificate in Official Control awarded by the Scottish Food Safety Officers Registration Board (SFSORB)
Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection awarded by the EHRB, IFST or the SFSORB
Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection awarded by the EHRB, IFST or the SFSORB with the Food Standards Endorsement
Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection awarded by the EHRB, IFST or the SFSORB with the Food Inspection Endorsement
Ordinary Certificate in Food Premises Inspection awarded by the EHRB, IFST or SFSORB
Advanced Professional Certificate in Food Hygiene and Standards Control (APC) awarded by CIEH
You will also need to meet/be working towards meeting the competency and CPD requirements of the Food Law Code of Practice.
You must have a good understanding of current environmental health issues and be committed to collaborative working and finding new solutions to developments in legislation and industry guidance. You must have a flexible approach to work and be able to work well under pressure, manage your own workload and prioritise your working week to meet deadlines.
