THE POSITION Embedded Mental Health Specialist Opportunity to work as an essential member of Emergency Services. Provide immediate and time limited response upon client contact issued from NKHS Emergency Services screener at Emergency Department. Your excellent customer service can reduce barriers to community resources & treatment services. We serve the populations of Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties through a wide variety of targeted programs for individuals of all ages. NKHS has over 450 employees providing case management, community and home supports, residential care, psychiatry, medication management, therapy, vocational supports, school based counseling, emergency care, and respite services. Life in the NEK of Vermont ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide resource information and immediate access to services. Early case coordination, next day follow-up and triage appointments. Convey hope, confidence, professionalism, offering peer contact info. Refer for any follow-up crisis screening (at or away from Emergency Department), refer for any identified mental health (MH) or substance use (Addiction) assessment and treatment needs, refer to NKHS Out-patient case manager for longer term coordination with MH and Addiction services. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a recognized field of human service. Experience managing and supporting client’s needs and ability to perform complex communication, ability to engage individuals to insure their quick access to community supports. A broad understanding of local services and the ability to connect clients to these services to meet their needs. Experience in provision of public or private human service. Ability to effectively interface with a wide range of medical and professional clinicians in hospital/clinic settings; & with partner community agencies. SALARY & BENEFITS $22.88 per hour plus, depending upon experience Tuition & continuing education reimbursements and loan repayment program.
