This is an exciting opportunity for a 1 year fixed term/secondment. The right candidates will join the complex needs team as an autism liaison practitioner. The post holder will use their fixed term tenure to influence the development and delivery of a liaison service for neurodivergent patients accessing our services. The key duties of this job are to be an advocate and adviser for autistic people of all ages within our secondary healthcare environment and to be an adviser to trust staff in how to achieve equitable healthcare outcomes for this group of patients. The role involves co-production and visible, close collaborative working with colleagues in both the hospital and community settings, raising awareness about the reasonable adjustment needs of neurodivergent patients. Experience and Knowledge
Experience of working with autistic people. Awareness and understanding of current issues in autism and healthcare. Understanding of local and national autism agendas. Understanding of relevant legislation, frameworks, and guidance relating to autism. Understanding of research-based practice. Ability to organise and prioritise own workload. Excellent presentational, communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Experience within a relevant specialty. Good networking knowledge of local resources for autistic people. Experience/knowledge of neurodivergences. Demonstrable experience of delivery and evaluation of training. Experience of working in an acute clinical environment. Qualifications and Training
Active professional Registration. Degree in Nursing, Midwifery or an allied care profession, or equivalent experience. Teaching Qualification. Skills and Abilities
