To assist the Depot Manager in all aspects of the day to day running of the distribution depot and fleet including the sample collection service and any 3PL warehouse duties where applicable. To provide cover for the depot manager when absent ensuring a reliable customer service. Supervise the team effectively. Carry out warehouse & driving duties as and when needed to ensure deliveries are met in line with service guarantees. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Assist the Depot Manager in all aspects of the day to day running of the operation. Assist the Depot Manager with any conduct/performance issues, including carrying out investigations. Deputise for the Depot Manager during holidays and other absence. Gain knowledge of all routes and provide cover for the delivery drivers, as and when required. Assist with unloading/loading and breaking down of goods into their routes. Be fully aware of vehicle tracking and temperature monitoring tools to ensure the fleet is compliant. Help and mentor new permanent or agency drivers. Supervise all drivers including Agency drivers. Alert the depot manager of any problems regarding the fleet, building or equipment. Prepare the load for the next day including checking of any returns. Keep up to date with any new computer programs, company procedures, and legislations. Administration Create daily/weekly/monthly management reports and KPI’s when the Depot Manager is absent. Ensure all daily paperwork is completed accurately and thoroughly. Communication Liaise with other departments including customer services and managers in relation to delivery issues. Communicate issues affecting the performance of the depot to the Depot Manager. Health & Safety Ensure Health & Safety compliance at all times including wearing any PPE supplied. Promote Health & Safety awareness throughout the depot environment. Be aware of relevant Risk Assessments and Fire Assessments. Report any near misses or accidents. Other Duties Be aware of and follow Company Standard Operating Procedures. Assist when required with other functions within the Operation. Attend any inductions/training/meetings even if this means overnight stays. Carry out regular checks on the fleet, checking for damage, wear & tear, mechanical faults, and cleanliness. Qualifications, experience, skills, knowledge and competencies required to fulfil the role Hard working and reliable. Enjoy working with others. Able to work accurately under pressure. Remain compliant in a fast-paced environment. Have excellent attention to detail. Ability to plan and schedule deliveries. Knowledge of the Highway code. Demonstrate NVS values at all times. Basic PC skills and knowledge of Word/Excel. Good supervisory & communication skills. Possession of current driving licence. Possession of FLT licence where applicable. Physically fit. Ability to assess suitability of job candidates during interviews.
