Job description

As a Machine Operative, you will be responsible for setting up and operating an In-line heat sealer, flow wrapper, and check weigh machine. You will ensure the correct customer film and promotion labels are used per production run, maintain and clean the machinery, and complete relevant paperwork. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Line Leader and Shift Supervisor to ensure efficient production processes and compliance with health and safety regulations.

The role is offered on a temp to perm basis.

Responsibilities

Train to set up and operate an In-line heat sealer, flow wrapper, and check weigh machine.

Ensure the correct customer film and promotion labels are used per production run, and validate this with the Line Leader or Shift Supervisor.

Collaborate with the Line Leader to ensure sufficient film is available for the day’s packing.

Input the correct date code information into the ice code printer, and validate it with the Line Leader or Shift Supervisor.

Maintain and periodically clean the In-line heat sealer, ensuring it is in optimal condition. Perform basic maintenance tasks if necessary.

Set up check weigh machinery to ensure the correct weigh batch is selected per production run.

Complete online calibration and report any high levels of rejections to the Line Leader.

Complete all necessary paperwork related to batch and production runs, as well as label checks.

Ensure machinery is left in a fit-for-purpose condition at the end of the shift for other users.

Report any machinery issues to the Line Leader immediately, who will arrange for an Engineer/Senior Machine Operator to investigate and resolve the problem.

Perform any other reasonable duties deemed necessary for the needs of the business.

Maintain a Health and Safety orientated environment for self and others.

Key Competencies

Good level of spoken English with clear ability to read and write.

Attention to detail in all aspects of operating machinery.

Ability to work well in a team.

Flexible and positive approach.

Good attitude towards Health and Safety.

Shifts & Pay

You will be required to work Monday to Thursday, roughly 12 hour shifts. Start times are usually around 06:00am, however this may occasionally change.
