The operating department at The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton currently comprises of 5 main in-patient/day case theatres and a recovery area. The Friarage is currently undergoing an exciting development of a brand new Surgical Hub which will offer state of the art technologies and a modern working environment. This will increase the theatre complex to 6 main theatres, 2 minor ops theatres, a 2 bay regional anaesthetic area, and a 10 bay recovery area with onsite admission and discharge areas.
Main duties of the job The theatres provide an operating service to the following clinical specialities: General Surgery Gynaecology Urology Plastic Surgery Orthopaedics Maxillo-facial ENT Ophthalmic
You will need to be an active member of the multidisciplinary team by demonstrating a range of essential skills to meet the needs of the patient in a safe caring environment that promotes evidence-based practice.
The theatre accommodates the following major specialities: General Surgery Orthopaedics Urology Gynaecology Plastics ENT Maxillo Facial Ophthalmic Pain and Spinal Surgery
The Centre is committed to staff development and offers a good competency-based training package with rotational expectations. Staff will also be at times expected to work across site at the main tertiary centre at James Cook University Hospital, candidates will have the opportunity to develop their skills in an exciting multi-speciality environment. Good communication and organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential to this post.
