My client is an ambitious fast-growing PE backed Civil Engineering group of SMEs with its HO based in Newcastle-u-Lyme, Staffordshire (just off M6). Reporting directly to the CFO with regular interface to the Main Board, this new position of Group Financial Controller has been created to strengthen the overall Finance function in support of the Group’s successful growth strategy with strong funding backing from a highly supportive PE Partner. The Group FC will head up the Central Finance function as well as managing local site-based Accounts staff - this will be a hybrid role with typically 2-3 days/week based at the HO with the additional requirement for occasional travel to the various local profit centre business sites across central England. Key Responsibilities/Challenges: Manage and develop a first-class Finance team. Ensure the production of timely and robust Group financial reporting and consolidated Management Accounts, automating the process as much as possible. Manage Annual Statutory Accounts process for all group entities. Develop and strengthen financial systems, processes and controls within the newly implemented ERP system with an ongoing focus on driving continuous improvements. Group Cashflow and Working Capital Management, including Bank covenant monitoring and reporting. Production of consolidated Annual Budgets and quarterly Forecasts. Production of Board reports and active attendance at monthly Board Meetings. Hands-on support for business improvement exercises across the Group's range of local SME profit centre business operations. Manage and integrate new Acquisitions/M&A activity from a financial and management reporting perspective. Key point of contact with all professional stakeholders - Bank, Auditors, Tax authorities, PE Partner. Overall, to support the CFO as his “right hand” in Finance to establish a high-quality Accounts function which will facilitate and support the Group’s exciting growth strategy. Person Profile: High calibre graduate Qualified Accountant. Confident and assured Finance professional who has progressed their career to date within a relevant multi-site Group based Financial Reporting/Controller role with additional significant hands-on local business involvement. Technically strong allied to well-developed commercial/business understanding. Strong ERP Systems development experience. Strong Excel skills. Proven strong Management skills and Stakeholder liaison experience. Highly organised and capable of working to tight deadlines. Ambitious to “make your mark” and develop your career in this key new Senior Management role. My client offers a competitive starting salary up to £120k plus a good Annual Bonus scheme and comprehensive Benefits package. Although this is a hybrid role, you will be an active member of the SMT with full business involvement; therefore the ideal candidate will be located within a maximum of 1 hour commute of the HO in Newcastle-u-Lyme.
