We have opportunities for Staff Nurses at Phoenix Ward which is part of Adult Inpatient Service. As a Staff Nurse you will work as part of our Multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care to our patients and support our Trust on its Journey to Outstanding Care. You will work within a needs-led model of care and will work in co-production with patients. Main duties of the job

Phoenix Ward is an 18-bedded male acute ward with a Health Based Place of Safety. We provide care and treatment for up to 18 patients, experiencing a variety of mental health problems, along with physical and social needs too. As a Mental Health Nurse, you'll be responsible for the co-ordination and management of the ward for a span of duty, as well as being responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients and carers. In addition, you'll develop effective risk management plans, and timely review of the risk management plan identifying opportunities for positive risk taking in conjunction with the client, carers/significant others and the ward team. You must have excellent communication skills, be reliable, punctual and work well in a team, whilst being adaptable to changing situations. You will need to be able to work calmly and efficiently within a busy and intensive environment dealing with unpredictable situations whilst remaining focused on providing a person-centred and recovery approach to care and treatment. We have an excellent relationship with local universities and post-graduate training providers. In addition, to this you will have access to both local and trust training to support your continuing professional development. It is mandatory for you to complete Positive Engagement and Caring Environment (PEACE) training which involves learning safe and least restrictive restraint techniques, along with Immediate Life Support, and other training directly related to the job. You will work a rotating shift pattern Early, Late and Nights to cover our 24 hour 7 day a week service. All candidates must be computer literate. Person Specification

Experience

Experiencing within working in a mental health setting. Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams. Experience of working as a Band 5 in an acute mental health setting Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications.

Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse - NMC. IT literate. Fluent command of the English language and ability to complete and maintain written records professionally. Skills and confidence in clinical risk assessment and management. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2007. Safely practice person-centred care and evidence-based practice. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Understand and work towards making the acute mental health inpatient environment neurodiverse-friendly. Can demonstrate clear evidence of Continued Professional Development. Qualification in psychosocial interventions. Leadership

Able to co-ordinate a span of duty on a mental health acute male adult ward. Able to handle complaints sensitively and effectively. Training and facilitation of learning.

Demonstrate willingness to be involved in mentoring students. Demonstrate willingness to coach healthcare assistants. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
