At ANGLE, we foster a dynamic, entrepreneurial approach to translating leading-edge translational research into clinical diagnostics. We promote a culture of collaboration and shared excellence while encouraging an open and honest exchange of ideas. We are always in search of potential employees who share our vision and want to make a difference today. In your submission, please describe your background and what you can bring to our team along with attaching your resume. Principal Accountabilities:
This role involves the development, optimization, and validation of bioinformatics pipelines for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data, including circulating tumour cell (CTC) targeted mutation profiling and transcript expression analysis. The Data Analyst will collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure the quality, accuracy, and reproducibility of molecular data for clinical applications. Duties will include:
Perform comprehensive analysis of liquid biopsy genomic datasets (DNA/RNA), identifying genetic variants and biomarkers for personalized oncology approaches. Implement, and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analysing large-scale NGS data, ensuring efficient variant calling, annotation, and interpretation. Refine analytical workflows to support clinical applications, with a focus on identifying clinically relevant cancer biomarkers using genomic data. Integrate machine learning algorithms as needed to enhance data analysis workflows, automate variant interpretation, and improve the scalability and accuracy of genomic data analysis. Work collaboratively across cross-functional teams to ensure all data management, processing, and analysis adheres to ISO 15189:2022 standards, maintaining data integrity and confidentiality. Prepare and present technical reports and data visualizations, clearly communicating complex analysis methodologies and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Provide analytical support in interdisciplinary team meetings, contributing to project design, execution, and the integration of novel bioinformatics approaches into clinical workflows. Continuously evaluate and optimise bioinformatics pipelines by incorporating cutting-edge bioinformatics tools and statistical methods to improve analysis efficiency and performance. Education, Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Cancer Biology, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in bioinformatics or molecular (DNA/RNA) data analysis, with a focus on cancer research, in a clinical or research setting. Proficient in bioinformatics tools for NGS data analysis (e.g., GATK, SAMtools, BEDTools), with an in-depth understanding of variant calling, annotation, and interpretation. Functional knowledge of Python and R for data analysis, utilizing libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Tidyverse and DESeq2. Skilled in using data science tools, including Jupyter Notebooks and AWS cloud computing, to refine and accelerate analysis workflows. Familiarity with workflow managers (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake) for automating and scaling bioinformatics pipelines. Job Requirements:
This role is based at the Guildford laboratory, with occasional flexibility to work from home. Please let us know if you require disability-related accommodation during the recruitment process so that we can work with you to meet your needs.
