The East Riding of Yorkshire Council has exciting new vacancies within our Approved Mental Health Professional and Out of Hours Service (AMHP&OOH Team) within Adult Social Care Services. We have 3 vacancies within the AMHP & OOH service because of the increased investment and demand on the service. We are offering the security of a permanent contract, specific and bespoke training programme, opportunities for advancement and professional development within the role. You will be expected to exercise good practice, provide support and advice as part of an integrated 24/7 Mental Health provision, resulting in good quality care and support for vulnerable adults and children across the East Riding. In this role, you will be working alongside and supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community who are experiencing periods of significant mental health distress placing their wellbeing at risk. As part of this statutory role, you will be assessing a person’s situation, advocating for them in often difficult situations and seeking to identify the most appropriate and least restrictive option for them. As a Specialist Social Worker, you will carry a small but complex caseload that requires specialist support, knowledge, and advice, often in conjunction with other teams and agencies.

It’s a chance to grow and develop your specialist knowledge within a Council that offers guaranteed continued professional development, professional qualification, strong support, excellent rewards, a competitive salary and a range of career development initiatives. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional to take a pro-active role in moving towards an integrated health and social care provision. The purpose of the team will be to develop, implement and deliver an effective 24/7 mental health service, providing a quality response in support of vulnerable individuals. The service covers between the hours of 8am and 8pm on a two-shift system early and late shifts, on a 12-week rolling rota basis (8-4pm and 11am-8pm). This is a 7 day service and covers the Bank Holidays. You will be part of a team of professionals with a strong team identity focusing on the appropriate application of the Mental Health Act 1983 and other relevant legislation who work across a strong, multi-agency network across the region. You can expect a safe working environment, manageable caseloads, regular supervision, effective targeted training, agile working, protected time, and a supportive work culture; plus, regular one to one and peer supervisions. With a strong emphasis on career development, we’ll encourage you to pursue your professional interests, focus on areas of particular interest to you, expand your knowledge, and become an expert at what you do. We have a robust training programme with expert facilitators on a variety of topics relating to mental health and mental health legislation. The team currently adopts a blended working approach with home working and office-based options. The post requires a valid driving licence and where a council vehicle is to be driven, that the post holder is eligible for unrestricted cover under the Council’s insurance policy.
