We are recruiting for Registered Nurses who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The East and North Herts Trust (The Lister renal unit) has a proven track record of successfully developing and managing Renal Dialysis Units at Stevenage, St Albans, Chiltern, Harlow and Bedford. Spanning over two decades, our experience in dialysis, innovative research and treatment concepts has earned us national and international recognition.

You will be joining an experienced Renal Team who have extensive experience in developing Workforce to manage Renal Units. You will be trained in the delivery of high quality patient care in a dialysis setting.

You may or may not have experience in Renal Nursing but must demonstrate a commitment to developing expertise in the management of patients with chronic kidney disease who require Haemodialysis.

We offer a renal rotation programme across ward nursing, renal acute dialysis unit and haemodialysis units. Interested applicants will need to be able to work across our five dialysis sites based at Lister, Bedford, Harlow, Luton and St Albans.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard of nursing care to meet the needs of patients with supervision and support from senior colleagues.

To identify clinical changes in patients and make safe and appropriate decisions in partnership with senior colleagues, seeking timely advice whenever necessary.

With decreasing levels of supervision, the nurse will plan, implement and evaluate care based on our model of nursing ensuring that the needs of each individual patient are addressed.

Be responsible for the accurate recording of clinical observations and data relating to patients care, ensuring that progress is maintained and reviewed.

Be able to present and discuss relevant issues with senior colleagues and the multidisciplinary team.

To communicate with patients and families with empathy and reassurance regarding assessment, care and treatment.

Recognise when situations are beyond own scope of competence and inform the shift leader promptly.

Professional qualifications

Essential Registered Nurse or equivalent with live NMC registration

Desirable Recognised teaching and assessing qualification

Previous Experience Essential Ward experience as a qualified nurse

Desirable Demonstrable haemodialysis experience

Skills Essential Demonstrate an ability to listen and comprehend Propose service developments Ability to prioritise and organize workload Ability to manage potentially difficult situations Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate interventions and/or treatments Ability to develop own skills and knowledge Physiological assessment of acutely unwell patient

Knowledge Essential Patient focused - committed to ensuring a positive hospital experience for patients and the relatives/carers Awareness of current professional issues Ability to support and mentor learners

Other requirements Essential Demonstrate a positive welcoming approach Ability to be supportive and empathetic To be able to communicate information in a timely, concise and accurate manner The post involves internal rotation to ward and acute HD unit The role requires working within a designated area at an individual bed space which may be restricted by equipment. Able to respond quickly to emergency situations in all areas of the unit. Sufficient to perform the duties of the post with any aids and adaptations
