About the role We are looking for a Firmware Engineer to join Airbus Defence and Space in Portsmouth. You will join our ADG (Advanced Development Group) team within the Communications Product Group and will report to the Head of ADG. You will be responsible for developing firmware and field programmable gate array (FPGA) aspects of Satellite Communications (SATCOM) modem products based on Software Defined Radio (SDR) technologies. You may not have a complete understanding of the engineering techniques and technical aspects of satellite modem systems, but we'll be happy to teach you through a combination of working with our existing team and by training.

How will you contribute to the team

Support with group activities to analyse customer need and define a solution

Development of Software/Firmware prototypes in an agile environment

Testing of solutions, including lab and field testing

Support demonstration of solution to customers

Further Development of proven prototypes to a deployment standard

About you

Experience in VHDL and/or Verilog field programmable gate array (FPGA) firmware development

Proficient with embedded system firmware modelling, simulation and debugging

Experience with one or more of the following development tools: MATLAB/Simulink, Xilinx Vivado, VivadoHLS, HDL Coder

Experience of System-on-Chip, especially RFSoC and Versal ACAP
