This school looks after children who have been diagnosed with Autism, many of whom also have co-existing issues such as social, emotional, and mental health needs.
The school needs a youth mental health support worker to support their students in their day-to-day activities.
The students attending this school are between the ages of 4 and 16. Each child has a personalised educational and health care plan and individual intervention plans designed to help them thrive. As a youth mental health worker, you will ensure that they are able to complete their academic work while also helping them navigate their emotions. You will also help them learn functional life skills, promoting their independence.
What you can expect as a Youth Mental Health Worker:
Deliver specific interventions that have been designed with the student, their needs, and goals in mind.
De-escalate any meltdowns and behaviour that may occur.
Help the children work through their big emotions.
Create a safe and engaging learning environment.
