Perimeter College, Clarkston Campus Job Description: Perimeter College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Laboratory Supervisor for the American Sign Language Lab. The Lab Supervisor will cover the ASL lab during its operating hours, work with ASL students and faculty, support the operation of the ASL lab, and provide ASL communication support as needed for Deaf faculty and the department. Key Responsibilities: Manage student sign-in and maintain records of usage. Manage student lab usage contracts. Monitor and coordinate students in the lab. Provide assistance during ASL lab usage. Engage students in conversations to help practice sign language skills. Proctor students during open lab hours and examinations. Archive student work. Track student resources in software used to catalogue films and other instructional materials. Work with faculty to assist students with assignments and video recordings. Ensure lab equipment and technology is operational. Assist department with office and student-related ASL communication needs. Plan and host film viewings, game and activity nights, and similar activities. Plan quarterly student on-campus gatherings. Work with ASL Club and faculty advisor to arrange and manage meetings, club promotion, and activities. Participate in monthly ASL team meetings. Coordinate student volunteers assisting in ASL 1001. Catalog and manage materials and supplies. Work with media and IIT to keep the ASL lab software and technology current, relevant, and innovative. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds to organize and maintain storage areas. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree and three years of experience; or a combination of education and related experience. Preferred Qualifications: A high level of proficiency in American Sign Language is required. Experience with the Deaf community in regards to instruction delivery is preferred.
