To ensure quality and standards of clinical care of patients treated within designated team, and to organise the team to deliver this effective and efficient care with regard to clinical priorities and use of time. To ensure safe delivery of all clinical practice across your team. At times there may be a requirement to be involved in clinical practice to support increased pressures across the Children's Physiotherapy team. This will involve the following clinical duties: Undertake the comprehensive assessment of paediatric patients, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative, analytical & advanced skills and devise individualised management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning and utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care. Interpret and analyse complex clinical and non-clinical facts to form comprehensive care plans in a wide range of highly complex conditions, to recommend the best course of intervention and develop comprehensive treatment plans in paediatric patients. Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work including the management of patients in your care. Working to professional standards to ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management and support staff within the designated team to do likewise. Provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other multi-agency professionals, to promote understanding of the aims of interventions and to ensure a consistent approach to patient care. Communicate effectively with patients, families and the MDT to maximise outcomes and ensure understanding of condition. Communication skills of persuasion, motivation and explanation to encourage patients, families and schools to undertake their treatment programme. Use verbal and non-verbal communication skills to gain informed consent with patients where there will often be barriers to effective communication e.g. loss of hearing, altered perception, expressive or receptive dysphasia, pain, fear, confusion, critical illness, pain, memory loss. Assess capacity, gain valid informed consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients or carers who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
