Laboratory Analyst Location: Bartley SO40 2LH (On-site based position) Salary: Competitive salary based on experience Our client, founded in 2022, is a privately owned, independent analytical laboratory based in Bartley near Southampton, Hampshire, UK. Laboratory specialises in analysis of Dioxins/Furans, PCBs, PFAS (including PFOS and PFOA testing) and other Persistent Organic Pollutants in environmental samples such as: soil, ash, sediment, sludge and waters (effluent, surface and ground). The Role Perform technical tasks in line with VLS Ltd procedures. Oversee day-to-day instrument operations. Calibrate all laboratory equipment as required. Conduct and record routine instrument maintenance. Process, calculate, and verify analytical results. Assist with sample preparation for various analyses (method development part). Conduct regular QC reviews. Report any anomalies or QC issues to the quality manager, ensuring accurate documentation. Suggest procedural improvements when errors or recurring problems arise. Train and assess colleagues in VLS Ltd procedures. Ensure all work adheres to UKAS and VLS Ltd QMS standards. Follow VLS Ltd safety policies, with particular attention to protective clothing requirements. Maintain high housekeeping standards. Perform any other reasonable tasks as required for the role. Skills and Qualifications The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with GC-MS QQQ and GC-MS, including troubleshooting and maintenance. Experience in method development and validation is a plus, as is the ability to assist in other areas of the lab as needed. Desired Skills: Minimum 1-year experience as a Laboratory Analyst. Familiarity with Agilent GC-MS QQQ and MassHunter software is a plus. Strong organizational and methodical skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
