The Leeds Renal Services lies within the Abdominal Medicine Surgery (AMS) Clinical Service unit at Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust. The renal service receives referrals for adults for the management and treatment of disorders of the kidney. The spectrum of disease ranges from mild disorders to life-threatening conditions. All the renal consultants see patients with general nephrological problems and, in addition, have their own special interests. The main renal unit is at St James's University Hospital, where inpatient, outpatient, pre-dialysis, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and transplantation services are provided. Nurse-led outpatient clinics also take place at St James's. The sub-regional kidney transplant service for West, East and North Yorkshire is located at St James's University Hospital.
