Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Orthoptist to join our team of 23 Orthoptists and Optometrists based at Queen Mary's in Sidcup. The post will also involve working at Orpington Hospital. We work closely with our two paediatric/motility Consultant Ophthalmologists but also support Medical Retina, Uveitis, Glaucoma, Neuro-ophthalmology and Oculoplastics services. The team also specialise in visual processing difficulties, low vision, stroke and Botox for blepharospasm. Main Duties of the Job
To work autonomously as an Orthoptist managing a wide and complex clinical caseload. To provide a high quality and comprehensive Orthoptic service. To ensure, individually and as part of the team, the effective and efficient running of the Orthoptic and Ophthalmology service. To develop extended roles, including intravitreal injecting. To deliver teaching and competency based learning programs for Ophthalmic colleagues and Orthoptic undergraduates. Working for Our Organisation

To be involved in highly specialised clinics such as: Neuro-ophthalmology To co-ordinate clinics (Orthoptic, thyroid, paediatric, adult strabismus, neuro). Assessment of lid and pupils. Tonometry (Goldmann, Tonopen, i-Care, Reichart) and pachymetry. Goldmann perimetry and paediatric perimetry. To work as an extended scope practitioner in an ophthalmic subspecialty e.g. Medical retina to include intravitreal injections after appropriate training. Emergency eye care. Oculoplastics – Administration of botulinum toxin for facial dystonias. Person Specification
