Our department of 12 Operating Theatres provides a structured induction programme offering supernumerary time to help you settle into your role and is tailored to meet individual needs and requirements. All this is fully facilitated by our own Clinical Educators and supported by our experienced and knowledgeable staff. Main Duties of the Job
As part of the multidisciplinary team within the Operating Department, the post holder will play a vital role in the day-to-day operation and smooth running of the department. They will accomplish this by providing skilled assistance to clinicians during the administration and maintenance of anaesthesia and undertaking both scrubbing and circulating duties within a wide range of surgical specialties. They will also provide skilled care in PACU and ensure that the highest possible standards of individualized patient care are always maintained. The post holder will also have delegated responsibility for the organizational and operational management of theatres in the absence of senior staff. Job Responsibilities

Qualifications and Training
Possess RGN 1st level OR HE Diploma Operating Department Practice (or equivalent) Current NMC/HCPC Registration. Students awaiting final results or registration are also eligible to apply Evidence of relevant ongoing professional development Relevant teaching qualification/mentorship module & experience of supporting students in practice Relevant post qualification theatre/PACU experience RGN with relevant anaesthetic qualification Experience
An understanding of patient care within the operating theatre & the provision of individualized care Works within current code of practice laid down by the NMC/HCPC Broad range of theatre/PACU experience Broad health care experience or working within hospital areas other than the Operating Department Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team Experience of supervising other staff & delegating duties & ensuring staff development Experience of utilising operating department IT management systems (eg ORMIS) Experience of documentation & record keeping Knowledge & experience of handling hazardous substances and procedures for this Skills and Knowledge
Good organizational and time management skills Good communication and interpersonal skills & ability to work within a multidisciplinary team Broad understanding of current health care issues Knowledge of equality & diversity, clinical governance, infection control & clinical supervision and how these relate to the role Able to effectively manage resources (both human & material) Experience of emergency and elective work Post registration experience in theatres/PACU Understanding of moving & handling procedures & guidelines in relation to the role Personal Attributes
Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service Professional image Able to move & handle materials, equipment & patients while following current guidelines and procedures to do so Ability to manage own workload and prioritize tasks Disclosure and Barring Service Check
