NHS 111 Health Advisor - located onsite in
Dorking, Surrey

key member of our 111 team
in
Dorking
you'll be doing just that.
This is your chance to train to be a
Health Advisor
in our
111 call centre , handling calls from members of the public. You'll learn how to use a state-of-the-art triage tool called NHS
Pathways
to assess patients over the phone and direct them to the most appropriate care. Although these are not emergency calls, you'll also need to be prepared to deal with emotional, distressing or life-threatening scenarios and to arrange for 999 services if required. We offer enhanced pay rates for weekends, we are offering
part-time weekend roles from 16 - 30 hours per week
to cover our core shifts and assist patients when they most need us. Other currently available hours are
weekdays from 15:00 to 22:00.
Please note:
If you require hours of
more than 30 hours per week , including full-time roles (37.5 hours), we
may
be able to accommodate you
if you are happy to work more weekend hours - this may mean working every weekend and taking days off during the week.
(It will be more likely to place you in suitable shifts if you can work these types of hours).
The extensive training equips you with valuable skills and includes assessments. We are offering
fully paid training
courses on a
full-time basis ,
Monday-Friday (9am-5pm) for 4 weeks.
We also offer part-time courses running
Tues, Weds, Thurs evenings (6pm-10pm) and Sat-Sun (9:30am-5pm) for 6 weeks.
You must attend every training day. This is followed by a further eight weeks' support before you are signed off to work on your own.
Upcoming available start dates are: Monday 20th January 2025 - Full Time Monday 17th February 2025 - Full Time Once you've completed your training, you can join the team
part-time (or full-time as explained above)
on your pre-approved shift pattern. However, please note that this is a
24/7, 365-days-a-year
service and is particularly
busy at weekends
so you should expect to work at these times, plus some bank holidays, which may include Christmas.
What you'll be doing: Manage calls from patients and healthcare professionals with urgent and non-urgent healthcare needs Direct patients to the service suitable for their needs, using the Pathways System appropriately Capture patient information using computer systems Communicate effectively in a healthcare environment with colleagues as well as callers, and adjust communication to fit their knowledge whilst handling calls with empathy and understanding What you will get:
Pay: £12.11 per hour- daytime and during training (07:00-23:00) £15.05 per hour - contractual night rate (23:00-24:00) £15.58 per hour - weekends (18:00 Friday-midnight; any hours worked on Saturday or Sunday) 25 days' annual leave, increasing with service up to 28 days per year + bank holidays. What you will need: GCSE/Functional Skills
English and Maths
at Grade C (or equivalent) or above. Excellent
listening and communication
skills, ideally with IT and keyboard skills, plus some previous experience of working and communicating with the public. A real
passion
for helping other people, with the ability to learn all sorts of new skills and to thrive and
