Medical Secretary - Vascular Surgery - Band 3

We are looking for a Medical Secretary who will be responsible for supporting the clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service is provided to the medical staff and their teams. The post holder will report to the Specialty Coordinator and ensure the CQUIN typing target and validation is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Please note this vacancy is not due to start until April 2025. Main duties of the job

Patient administration underpins the patient journey and supports clinical teams in delivering high-quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience. Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources. The Medical Secretary is the hub of effective patient administration in the Business Unit. Ensures a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service is provided to the medical staff and their supporting team. Provides cover for colleagues in their absence to maintain service levels. Co-ordinates the elective access process with the Elective Access Clerk and ensures that all available capacity is used. Works with the Support Manager regularly to ensure the whole of the patient pathway runs smoothly with minimal delays ensuring the Trust achieves locally and nationally agreed standards. Actively manages patient waiting lists and ensures patient pathways are updated to minimise validation backlogs and data quality issues. Regularly validates to ensure data quality. About us

Qualifications

Typing, Audio and Word/Text Processing skills to RSA II or equivalent. GCSE English Language Grade C or equivalent. 4 GCSE C or equivalent. NVQ 2 or equivalent in Business Administration. Audio skills to RSA II standard or equivalent. Previous Experience

Knowledge of medical terminology. Previous experience in an office environment. NHS experience. Previous secretary experience. Ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload to achieve deadlines. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability and confidence to communicate at all levels. Competent Microsoft Word User. Validation of 18-week RTT pathway. Specific Requirements

Conscientious in standard of work produced. Ability to work to tight deadlines and as part of a team. Clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality. Adaptable to change. Readiness to try new things. Ability to recognise when to seek appropriate assistance from colleagues. Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. £24,071 to £25,674 a year per annum, £12,035 - £12,837 pro rata.
