As an experienced Operating Department Practitioner (OPD), you’ve probably become used to sacrificing evenings and weekends for the job you love. Well, we can offer you a great role as part of a friendly, welcoming and expert multidisciplinary theatre team.
All of our work is planned so with us you will be able to apply your knowledge, skills and experience in a pre-arranged, non-emergency care environment, allowing you to focus on delivering a first-class service to your patients. You’ll be working 37.5 hours a week over 4 days, with no routine scheduled night work, or working Sundays or bank holidays, you’ll enjoy a better balance between your work and your home life, as you grow in your role and take your career development just as far and as fast as you want to.
What you'll be doing
You’ll be a vital part of a professional, friendly and compassionate team supported by our experienced Theatre Manager. Our focus at all times is on ensuring that our patients receive high quality treatment quickly, in clean and comfortable surroundings, and you’ll do everything you can to ensure the patient’s treatment is of the highest standard.
You’ll be responsible for undertaking pre-operative checks, ensuring the effective and accurate handover of patients from the anaesthetic and scrub team and assessing patients appropriately throughout their recovery period.
What we’ll look for in you
A Registered NMC Nurse or an HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioner, with:
experience in anaesthesia and recovery and the extubating and resuscitation of patients
competent in IV therapies and catheterisation
clinical knowledge of anaesthetics and infection control, alongside your
problem-solving skills and ability to think both literally and laterally
having a sound knowledge of Health and Safety/Risk management within the operating department
