The post holder will be working alongside Highly Specialist SLT Team Leads, Specialist SLTs and SLT Assistants. There are also well established Acute, Outpatient and Macmillan teams, and excellent team administrative support.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will work with stroke inpatients as a member of the Stroke MDT and the dedicated stroke SLT team. They would provide specialist SLT management for both the acute and rehabilitation stages of stroke patients' treatment. They will be competent in assessment and treatment of a wide range of swallowing and communication disorders, particularly related to stroke.
The postholder will be an active member of the multidisciplinary stroke team where close MDT working is essential. They will contribute to service development and training including audit/SSNAP targets, and supervision of junior colleagues including SLT Assistants. They will be supervised by the Band 7 Stroke Lead SLT and can maintain strong supervisory links from AHP peers.

Job description Job responsibilities They will be an integral member of the Adult SLT team and will gain the opportunity to provide training to other healthcare professionals in the longer term. The successful candidates will be able to access support from lead specialist therapists in areas of stroke, dementia, palliative care, tracheostomy, voice, and head and neck cancer (via our Macmillan SLT service). There are also on-site weekly videofluoroscopy and FEES clinics.
The chosen candidates will also receive excellent supervision from the well-established and well-resourced SLT team. There is access to informal and formal training and CPD opportunities, where learning and sharing is strongly encouraged. We strive for ongoing service development, and participation in projects and audits, and cross-discipline working is highly valued. We are passionate about our team and profession, keeping current with RCSLT activity, as well as actively raising the profile of Speech and Language Therapy via social media.
