East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join us in Haematology & Blood Transfusion at Ipswich Hospital. An enhanced relocation package may be available. You will join a friendly and busy MHRA and UKAS compliant hospital laboratory who are committed to the training and development of our staff. We are an IBMS accredited training laboratory for registration and specialist portfolios. You must have completed your haematology specialist portfolio. Once competent, experienced staff will participate in the out of hours roster which attracts a night rate enhancement for lone working. We are equipped with Grifols, Sysmex XNs and ACL TOPS analysers. Our LIMS is Lab Centre. Previous working knowledge of these technologies would be an advantage. We are clinically led and designed to achieve the benefits of scale that can be achieved by working together to meet our service users' needs and support the excellent clinical care provided by our hospitals. We are committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best pathology staff. You will play an integral part in helping to train our junior staff to develop their skills and careers. Main Duties of the Job

You will enjoy a varied range of responsibilities, including: Maintaining the quality management system and UKAS accreditation. Training and supervision of less experienced members of staff. Validating and authorising results. Providing a safe quality service for our patients. Resolving complex equipment or process problems. Performing manual, semi-automated and fully automated laboratory investigations, including specialist investigations, within the defined service area accurately and efficiently. Participating in the day-to-day management of stock control and usage, including maintaining Blood Transfusion stock levels and records. Person Specification

Registration

HCPC registered Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent Specialist portfolio in Haematology and Blood Transfusion or CPSM logbook Evidence of CPD Appropriate Post Registration IBMS Specialist Diploma or IBMS diploma in Biomedical Science Knowledge & Experience

Theoretical knowledge and practical experience of specialist biomedical procedures relevant to the post. Substantial practical experience of working in a Biomedical Science laboratory. Experience of Quality Management Systems. Experience of performing Risk Assessments. Experience of Pathology IT systems. European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent. Previous relevant experience of working in the NHS. Previous experience of line managing staff. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
