Deputy Sister/Deputy Charge Nurse at Buckingham Community Hospital

This is an exciting time to join our amazing team in Elderly Rehabilitation at Buckingham Community Hospital as we look to expand our senior nursing team. We welcome enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals to join our team of multi-disciplinary professionals to provide dynamic, high quality, patient centered care to our service users. This Band 6 role will require someone who really wants to develop themselves in a very supportive environment. You will need to be competent, caring, courageous, and compassionate, with the proven ability to work individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their commitment to continuously developing professionally whilst supporting junior colleagues in an acute clinical environment. Main duties of the job

The post holder is designated to regularly take charge of the ward and provide effective professional and managerial leadership to all staff in the absence of Sister. He/she is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care, maintaining a high standard of nursing care within the framework of Trust policies. He/she will teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff including basic and/or post basic students, back to nursing students and health care assistants. He/She will be expected to complete clinical audits and implement positive changes to the ward environment following any indications. They will be involved in quality assurance as well as improvement and will work as part of the senior nursing team to monitor safety and improvement. About us

Experience

Experience of working as NIC and co-ordinating shifts Experience as a band 6/5 Experience of teaching, HCA's, Students and qualified staff Experience of working as RN Previous experience of working with frail older adults Education, Qualifications & Training

Registered Nurse (Level 1) ENB 998 or equivalent First Line Management Course Evidence of further continued professional development Diploma in Nursing Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

Ability to communicate clearly with patients, relatives and the multi-disciplinary team in English Ability to write clearly and legibly in English Competency in IV drug administration and infusion pump skills Ability to work required shift pattern Knowledge of up to date nursing and NHS issues High motivation and ability to motivate others Computer literate Ability to work within a team and independently Managerial and leadership ability Understanding of Frailty and rehabilitation in the community Knowledge of evidence informed and research-based practice Ability to plan a rota Ability to resolve conflict/dispute in a non-confrontational manner Experience in managing complaints Disclosure and Barring Service Check
