Are you a social worker who is committed to making a difference to vulnerable young people’s lives? Our Young People’s Safeguarding Team may just have the role for you! Do you have sound understanding of safeguarding risks outside the home and experience working with 12-18 year olds? Are you experienced at working with risk of homelessness or care, children vulnerable to exploitation, and those who have experienced trauma which has impacted on their physical and emotional wellbeing? Is your safeguarding knowledge spot on and do you understand young people's brain development and vulnerabilities? Do you believe each young person is different with their own story, experiences, and that each can achieve their full potential? Oh, and not to forget, are you able to move at pace calmly and reflectively? Are you nodding your head in agreement? Is your brain saying tick, tick, tick? Exciting! We’re halfway there. But enough about you! Who are we and where do you fit in? Our team is part of an integrated service which means we are closely aligned with the Youth Justice Service and exploitation service. Our social workers work alongside a variety of people including police officers, health workers, psychologists, education workers, and substance misuse workers. Our evidence-based approach is restorative and creates a shared language and culture, where we focus on building relationships which support good outcomes for young people. We are fortunate to have extensive support from senior management and managers who truly want to see their team members progress and succeed. You will be joining a team full of energy, curiosity, and a whole lot of experience! We need you to come on board and share your knowledge and skills with us, and collectively we will continue our journey to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people within our local community! We are reviewing applications daily, so please do not hesitate to apply! It’s a great time to join the team here at Sand Martin House. In return for your commitment to PCC, you will have access to an amazing range of benefits including: Generous annual leave entitlement starting at 25 days per year + bank holidays (FTE) + option to purchase up to an additional ten days per year (FTE) Comprehensive pension scheme with employer contributions of 17.5% (current) Immediate life cover (x3 times your annual salary) and ill-health protection (applicable to those enrolled in LGPS) Flexible and hybrid working opportunities Discounted private medical insurance Access to a car lease salary sacrifice and cycle to work scheme Funded professional or subscription fees where qualification or membership of a professional body is an essential part of the role Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity. We believe this is beneficial for our employees, the organisation, and the communities we serve.
