The Duke of York’s Royal Military School seeks to appoint a part-time innovative and passionate Teacher of PSHE to join our successful Humanities Faculty for Maternity Cover. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to inspire students and model ambitious and engaging teaching practices. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic teacher of PSHE and model of engaging and ambitious practice. You will have experience of teaching Key Stages 3 and 4, with KS3 RE experience a significant advantage. You will contribute to the continued development of teaching and learning, building upon the excellent foundations already established. You will be committed to ensuring an aspirational, relevant and engaging curriculum is delivered to all our students. We encourage applications from ECTs. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to play an active role in boarding School life, including: tutoring; clubs and activities during the day; boarding duties in the evenings and at weekends. In return, a DOYRMS allowance of £6,686 per annum will be payable. Key Responsibilities Maintain high expectations in planning, delivering, and assessing KS3 and 4 PSHE and RE lessons. Possess in-depth knowledge of the PSHE and RSE curriculums and their progression. Be flexible and creative in designing effective learning sequences that align with objectives and student needs, incorporating recent developments. Utilise a variety of teaching, learning, and behaviour management strategies to personalise learning and help all students reach their potential. Accurately assess students’ knowledge and skills, providing effective feedback for improvement. Take responsibility for students’ attainment and progress in Humanities, addressing underperformance with supportive interventions. Communicate effectively with parents about students’ achievements and well-being. Provide continuity of learning should students or staff be absent from School. Encourage cross-curricular links with other departments.
