The Spiritual Care Service is looking to recruit to the post of a Heath & Social Care Chaplain to deliver services in NHS Highland. Applicants are required to hold a Theology degree or equivalent Pastoral Experience. A Post Graduate in Health Care Chaplaincyalongside a diploma in Pastoral Supervision or working towards this qualification aredesirable. PG Cert in Healthcare Chaplaincy – as you are being employed as a Band 6 it’s expected that you will achieve full registrant status with UKBHC within 3 years. If you don’t achieve full registration within this timescale there is a possibility that your post will be reviewed and you may be matched to a lower band. It is expected that you will gain provisional registration as soon as possible. Healthcare chaplains continue to work within a variety of Health and Social Care settings delivering vital spiritual care to patients, relatives and staff. Healthcare chaplains work in busyand, at times, challenging environments; managing multiple priorities, both planned and unexpected. The post holder will have a good understanding of the spiritual needs of those of different belief communities and those who have no faith. The post holder will be required to display excellent communication skills and the ability to reflect on their practice. NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
