Do you want to support people to achieve their goals and outcomes? If the answer is yes, we have an exciting new vacancy within our Mencap service in Haxby. We have one full time vacancy. Driving is essential for this role and we require candidates to have a full UK driving licence. This is a happy and lively service supporting 5 young men with Autism who enjoy living together and have a very active life. They enjoy being part of their local community and are involved in regular daily activities outside their home in different venues across the city. They have varied interests including cycling, swimming, walking, gardening, trips to the coast, bowling and having coffee in the local cafes. They also enjoy chilling out, using their sensory room and having time with their families. If you enjoy being active and creative and have a real desire to be part of a successful team supporting people to achieve their goals and dreams then we'd love to hear from you. As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will enormously contribute to the people we support, living a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life. Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom. Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals. Excellent communication skills/relationship building – supporting the person to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships. Community & Social Inclusion - Supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
