EN163-305 Job Description

Qualified Social Worker, Wrexham Council, Children LAC & Leaving Care Team - Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children's Social Work team. The team works extremely well together to ensure the safety of children under the close supervision of a supportive Team Manager. The responsibilities will include: Experience in managing complex cases (court cases, child in need of care and support cases, child protection cases, looked after children cases, adoption cases, transition to leaving care cases). Candidate will be part of an experienced, proactive and supportive team and will assist in its approach to providing a social work service to children and young people who are looked after by the authority. Aim of the service is to secure permanence for children who become Looked After and to ensure that children and young people are in placements which meet their needs, reflect their right to safety and security, and encourage them to reach their full potential at every stage of their development. Supporting all looked after children and young people to meet their full educational potential and to promote their health including their mental health. If the care plan for the child is for adoption, the team will work closely with the North Wales Adoption Service to identify a match and place the child with a new family. The primary focus of the work is to safeguard and promote the child’s wellbeing. Duties within the Looked After and Leaving Care team will include working with looked after children moving into independence, completing pathway assessments and plans, and supporting young people with practical skills, access to training, and education. You will be working closely with other agencies which include Education, Housing, Youth services, and health. To be the right person for this role, you will have excellent communication skills, proven experience of working as part of a team, previous experience of working with children and young people, as well as a drive and passion for supporting families and improving outcomes for children, ensuring their safety and wellbeing is paramount. Liaise with other professionals. 37 hours per week (flexible by negotiation). 3 month Temporary Contract. Start date subject to DBS and reference clearance.
