Accuro provides a range of services for children, young people, and adults with a disability and their families. The recruitment of volunteers is seen as an essential and vital component in the delivery of most of these services. Accuro offers a variety of volunteering opportunities and attempts to match potential volunteers to the most appropriate roles. Accuro’s Under 19’s Scheme operates in Saffron Walden and provides a fun, safe, and stimulating environment for young people between the ages of 11 and 19 who have a range of disabilities. The club currently runs alternate Mondays from 6:15 PM to 8:15 PM during term time. The role of volunteers is to assist in increasing and maintaining opportunities for young people with disabilities to access social and leisure activities that would otherwise be unavailable to them. Volunteers may be asked to assist and support young people with a variety of small group activities or outings while at the Under 19’s Club. Skills
Volunteers should possess a friendly and approachable manner, be encouraging, and enjoy being part of a team. Training will be provided, including Safeguarding Training. Hours to be mutually agreed upon between volunteers and the Scheme Coordinator. Support young people in participating in leisure activities and outings as requested by the Scheme Coordinator. Use initiative to assist in situations where another staff member or volunteer may need support. Become a member of a committed team. Express ideas for new and novel activities and outings. Attend volunteer meetings and training sessions relevant to the post. Maintain awareness of appropriate language and behavior within the group. Follow the guidelines and policies of Accuro. Location
