Your base location will be in Peterborough, with 2-3 days in the office. The Senior Procurement Specialist role is responsible for planning, managing, and the timely delivery of a pipeline of strategic sourcing initiatives and negotiation of contracts. You will play a critical role in achieving the required outcomes for the initiatives to support the business, our regulators, owners, and customers. You will use your well-proven strategic thinking, as well as excellent influencing abilities to manage and engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring relationships with the market are managed effectively to achieve strategic outcomes by developing a deep understanding of market dynamics and business demand for given spend areas. Leveraging your extensive experience in procurement and ensuring category profile methodology is incorporated throughout strategy development. Generating high-quality data and updating relevant modules within the AWS technical platforms to demonstrate and allow for real-time view of projects/events, their progress, and enable relevant reporting. You will use your knowledge to actively support and mentor the wider community within the Commercial Procurement Team, particularly those in the Procurement Specialist roles. What will you be doing?

Develop, own, and actively manage a strategic portfolio of work. Deliver sourcing initiatives on time to maximize value to the business. Appoint and onboard suppliers following an agreed sourcing methodology suitable for the value or complexity of the spend and/or requirement. Lead on complex commercial negotiations and complete e-auctions when applicable. Ensure relevant systems are used and updated to ensure an auditable process and efficient reporting to the business. Provide advice and support to the business to understand and deliver their requirements. Identify any spend trends which may need further investigation and execute identified actions. Ensure sustainable procurement risks are understood and managed for all projects. Negotiate with suppliers on a “spot buy” basis where appropriate. Develop a deep understanding of the business needs for specific spend areas and demand profile over time. Develop strong market knowledge within assigned spend categories. Work as part of a team to identify opportunities/benefits through improved working practices with supply chain partners. Work as part of a team to onboard suppliers. What does it take to be a Senior Procurement Specialist?

CIPS Professional standard and membership to a minimum of level 5 or educated to profession or degree level in a procurement or commercial related course. Excellent knowledge of European Procurement and other relevant legislation. Established professional with extensive commercial acumen experience. Established professional with extensive experience within a Strategic Procurement team. Successful and substantial experience in project management. Substantial experience in successful strategic strategy creation and category management capability. Hold an appropriate professional qualification or membership of a professional body.
