Reporting directly to the Retail Operations Director, the General Manager will have operational P&L responsibility for operations covering service levels, manufacturing, quality, safety, and all performance improvement functions in a 24/7 environment. You will lead a workforce of over 240 with 8 direct reports to achieve and exceed company goals, supporting the development and delivery of the business plan for the site in line with the overall operations and business strategy and values.

Key Responsibilities:

Have operational P&L responsibility for all retail operations covering manufacturing, engineering, NPD, planning, technical, innovation, and all performance improvement functions in a 24/7 environment.

Deliver our commitments to our customers through market-leading service levels, a focus on quality balanced with an appreciation of yields, costs, and control of the factory processes.

Lead site objectives through motivating the operational team to deliver while focusing on innovation, OEE, and operational excellence.

Lead, motivate, coach, and develop the operational unit and wider teams to achieve set goals and targets.

Utilize staff and equipment to maximize the production of quality products in a safe environment.

Ensure all legal and legislative requirements are adhered to and up to date.

Manage and control departmental costs effectively, including energy use, water usage, effluent cost, and all other aspects of overhead spending.

Maintain and motivate an engaged workforce, overseeing the annual performance management process for all colleagues.

Ensure effective stock management for raw materials and finished goods.

Support the development and delivery of the business plan for the site in line with overall operations and business strategy and values.

Stay updated with industry developments in manufacturing and distribution, introducing innovative changes to ensure constant improvement.

Deliver high standards of quality, ensuring products meet customer specifications in line with critical control points, GMP, and H&S requirements.

Personal Specifications:

Knowledge and experience in managing a Food Manufacturing facility, preferably Chilled High Care/Risk foods. Must have operated at a Factory, Operational, or General Management level.

Experience working to BRC standards.

Significant experience at Senior Management Level with strong leadership and people management experience.

Natural leader, analytical thinker, with resource management skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Excellent customer-facing interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
