ICASS (Integrated Community Assessment & Support Service) has the overall aim of improving the quality of care and outcomes for older people with the intention of allowing them to remain independent within their own homes or communities.

Staff Nurses work effectively as members of the Hospital at Home Team ensuring the delivery of high quality, clinically effective care, utilising high level clinical skills and knowledge to maintain patient safety within the community.

We are seeking an individual to join the established Hospital at Home service for Community services. The main base will be Whyteman’s Brae Hospital in Kirkcaldy; however, the post is employed in the community care services, so there is the possibility that, in order to support colleagues and capacity within the service, some shifts may have to be carried out across the Fife Wide Service.

You will be required to deliver a high standard of safe and effective acute medical patient care within patients’ homes and must have the ability to recognise the deteriorating patient and work autonomously in this evolving service.

You should be a registered nurse with relevant experience, demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, and possess clinical skills including venepuncture, ECG, IV additives, and cannulation. Please refer to the job description and person specification for more detail.

You will have good communication skills and a flexible attitude to work. The ability to travel within the area in a timely manner is essential for this community post.

Vital to this post is the flexibility to work over a 7-day period, working shifts covering the period from 08.00 to 22.00 hours.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024, but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37-hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
