We are offering a trainee post which will lead to a permanent position within the team as an Advanced Practitioner Mammographer. Trainee Mammographers are qualified Radiographers engaged in a post graduate study leading to competency in Mammographic advanced Practice. You will train towards an area of advance Practice in Mammography, biopsies and/or Film reading. The service includes the Screening & Symptomatic Service based at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, with three mobile vans covering the South Essex area. We screen around 25,000 women per year. Across MSE there is symptomatic imaging at Basildon. We run three recently refurbished GE Mammography rooms with tomosynthesis capacity and 2 Ultrasound rooms. We have 3 mobile screening units operating across South Essex and recently installed remote digital transfer systems from our vans to the base site. This is an exciting time to join the team as we introduce Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography, alongside our current research audits and training programs. We support ongoing leadership development and advanced practitioners, the services has supported the national breast fellowship program and have managed to recruit several graduates to support their ongoing career development. Southend is also located close to two mainlines into London and an International airport, along with the longest pleasure pier in the UK. Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing a safe, efficient and effective imaging and Breast Mammography service for the Trust and South Essex Screening service in accordance with Screening and Trust protocols. They will ensure a high-quality Mammography service is maintained at all times. You will support the superintendent in organising staff and workload to maintain adequate staffing in each area and respond to changes in demand in a positive and constructive manner. You will demonstrate expertise in Breast Imaging techniques by promoting high standards of diagnostic radiography through best practice and education and by maintaining and developing high standards of patient care and best practice amongst peers, student colleagues and users of the breast imaging service. You will take an active role in the development of the breast mammography service in order to continuously improve patient safety and experience and will be responsible for the organisation and coordination of the staff rotating through the mammography rooms. You will practice advanced clinical skills in mammography including stereotactic within approved guidelines and working to given protocols. About us

Qualifications
BSc (Hons) Radiography/Diploma of The College of Radiographers or equivalent. Certificate of Competence in mammography/Post Graduate Certificate in Mammographic Practice. HCPC Registration PGDip Mammographic imaging or equivalent Experience
Evidence of extensive experience in radiographic techniques for biopsies including stereotactic procedures. Thorough knowledge of IR(ME)R demonstrated in previous experience or supporting information. Evidence of well-developed knowledge of NHSBSP, Cancer Services and Breast Care. Evidence of breast interventional experience. Evidence of film reading experience. Evidence of advanced Interventional Mammography skills. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
